The Department of Religious Studies at Claremont McKenna College (CMC) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the early assistant professor level in African-American/African Religions. The position will begin on July 1, 2025. The successful candidate is expected to hold a Ph.D. by the time of the appointment.

The successful applicant will teach courses in African-American/African Religions, with desirable subfields including (but not limited to) religion and politics, transnationalism, women and religion, and/or religions of Africa in the diaspora. The teaching load is two courses per semester. The candidate must have demonstrated the ability to maintain an active, high-quality research program and the highest standards of excellence in teaching.

Approximate annual salary range:
